Clay County logged 5,997 check-ins during the first two days of no-excuse early voting, according to KSHB 41’s October 23 report, giving Kearney readers an early snapshot of participation ahead of the November 3 election.

The report compares that count with 1,256 check-ins during the first two days of the August 2026 primary, while noting that county officials said the current opening period remained below November 2024.

That is 4,741 more check-ins, or about 4.8 times the August primary’s opening count. These are counts from the first two days—not a cumulative total through October 26, a turnout percentage or a record. The November 2024 opening period was higher.

KSHB also reported about 2,700 in-person voters in neighboring Platte County at the time of its story.

Those are separate county figures, rather than a Kearney-only count or a statewide total.

Plan your Kearney visit

For Clay County voters, the Election Board lists the Kearney Annunciation Center, 705 North Jefferson Street, among four 2026 early-voting locations.

The published schedule is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday; no excuse is required for registered voters during the final two weeks before Election Day.

The other listed sites are the Election Board office in Liberty, A Turning Point in Gladstone, and Nashua Baptist Church in Kansas City.

An important last-day exception falls inside this newsletter’s coverage week: on Monday, November 2, only the Election Board office at 100 West Mississippi Street in Liberty will be open for early voting.

Kearney residents using the local early-voting site should therefore plan their visit by Saturday, October 31, and check the Election Board’s current information before leaving.

KSHB reminds voters to bring valid photo identification.

The Election Board also describes curbside voting and accessible ballot-marking equipment for people who need assistance.
