Facility Planning Survey Seeks Kearney, Missouri Input |
Community feedback will help Kearney School District weigh long-term financial and facility priorities |

Kearney School District is asking families, employees and community members to weigh in before its Great Schools = Great Community surveys close Tuesday, Oct. 13.
The public engagement effort centers on facility planning, long-term financial stability and the choices the district may face as it prepares for future needs.
No final decisions have been made, and district leaders say the current phase is focused on sharing information and gathering input before the Board of Education considers next steps.
Residents who are not current parents, guardians or employees can take a community survey, while separate versions are available for parents and guardians and for district staff.
Each survey is expected to take about five to seven minutes and can be completed only once per device.
That makes it important to finish in one sitting, because a participant who exits early cannot return later from the same device.
The district is also conducting a random telephone survey of households through outside research firms, with calls generally placed on weekday evenings and Saturdays.
Community feedback is intended to help the district understand what residents value, where they see challenges and which long-range priorities deserve closer attention.
The broader planning process includes how public schools are funded, how local tax dollars are used and how buildings, systems and learning spaces may need to change over time.
The significance goes beyond a routine questionnaire because the results are meant to inform decisions that could shape district finances and facilities for years.
Individual answers will not be provided to the district; it will receive summarized findings from the survey process.
For Kearney residents, Oct. 13 is the practical deadline to make their priorities part of that record.
If Kearney schools matter to you, take a few minutes to review the district information, complete the survey that fits your role and share this reminder with a neighbor who may want a voice in the process. |

No kids in the district anymore but still completed the community version. These facility decisions affect property taxes for all of us not just parents.
The one device only thing kind of bugs me. I started it and got interrupted and then could not go back. They should mention that warning a little louder before people start. Lost my chance to finish it properly.
The one device one shot thing is a little annoying. My husband and I share a laptop and only one of us could do it.
Got one of those phone calls on a Saturday evening. Thought it was a scam at first honestly. Glad I stayed on the line, it was legit. Just a heads up for anyone else who gets a call.

Glad they're actually asking people before making decisions for once. Hoping they pay attention to what comes back.
Filled mine out this morning. Took maybe four minutes. If you haven't done it yet today is basically your last chance.
My kids have gone through KSD schools for the last 10 years and I am really proud of this district. Happy to see them doing this the right way and getting input first. Filled mine out last week.
Curious what kind of facility changes they are actually considering. The survey felt a little vague on specifics. Would be nice to know what options are actually on the table before we weigh in.
Glad they are asking the community before making big decisions. Took the survey this morning, only took me about 5 minutes. Easy to do, no excuses not to fill it out before Tuesday!
