Furniture Mall's grand opening brings over 1,000 styled rooms to the Metro North Crossing redevelopment site |

The Metro North Crossing redevelopment is hitting a major milestone this summer as the Furniture Mall opens its doors at the former Macy's site in North Kansas City.
The furniture store's grand opening was July 8 at 8550 N. Jefferson St., drawing shoppers to one of the most talked-about retail transformations in the Northland.
The scale of the new showroom is hard to overstate.
More than 1,000 fully styled rooms will greet visitors, each outfitted with living room, bedroom, and dining furniture, complemented by lighting, rugs, wall art, and accessories.
Shoppers can even cruise the 150,000-square-foot showroom on tricycles or grab frozen custard and fresh-baked cookies while they browse.
It's a retail experience designed to feel more like a destination than a chore.
The Winter family, whose roots in the furniture business stretch back generations, brings this third Kansas City-area location to a community hungry for it, with existing stores already anchoring Olathe and Lee's Summit.
The arrival of Furniture Mall signals another turning point in the ambitious reimagining of the 106-acre Metro North site.
IAS Partners has steadily transformed the once-dormant mall property into a buzzing mixed-use corridor featuring new apartments, dining spots, and entertainment venues, including a golf entertainment complex that already draws steady crowds.
An NRG Adventure Park is also slated to open nearby in early 2026, further cementing Metro North Crossing's status as the Northland's go-to destination. |
