Kearney High School’s girls golf program has a new benchmark: fifth place at the 2026 MSHSAA Class 3 State Championship, its best team finish according to KPGZ’s October 25 report and the school district’s October 21 announcement.

The tournament took place at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield, where five Bulldogs represented Kearney.

The district identifies the previous team high as eighth place in 2010, putting this year’s result ahead of that earlier mark.

Kindell Owen added an individual milestone, placing third with a two-round total of 157.

She followed an opening 81 with a 76, a five-stroke improvement across her two rounds.

The district describes her third-place result as the best individual state finish in KHS girls golf history.

The announcement also lists totals of 183 for Jessi Kutch, 211 for Suraya Jardak, 217 for Makenna Sallee and 224 for Kendall Resler.

The district recognized head coach Troy Resler and assistant coach Brooke Mueller alongside the five players in its celebration of the season.

For Kearney readers, the result offers two distinct achievements to recognize: a new team standard and a record individual finish.
