Families can put a free downtown outing on their Halloween calendar: Halloween Blast returns to Kearney on Friday, October 30, 2026, from 4 to 6 p.m.

The Kearney Enrichment Council is bringing together downtown storefronts and decorated trunks for an afternoon of trick-or-treating and entertainment, according to the City’s current event announcement.

Admission is free and open to the public, making the event an option for families planning their October 30 afternoon.

The celebration grew from a downtown business trick-or-treat effort started by local citizens, community activists and UPS Store owners Bob and Sharon Tate.

The Enrichment Council now connects those storefronts with businesses, civic groups, neighborhood organizations and individual families across the community.

Participation extends beyond businesses with a downtown address: organizations and residents can register a decorated trunk and hand out candy.

That invitation also includes neighborhoods where Halloween foot traffic is light, giving residents another way to take part in the community celebration.

The City directs prospective trunk participants to the organizer’s Halloween Blast page for sign-up information and event guidelines.
