Kearney High School won all four team divisions at the Suburban Blue Conference cross-country meet, giving the Bulldogs a sweep spanning the varsity and junior varsity girls and boys.

KPGZ’s October 20 recap places the meet at Platte Ridge Park on Saturday, October 17, where runners faced cold, windy conditions.

Varsity girls set the pace

The varsity girls finished with 17 team points, led by individual conference champion Izzy Fowler in 20 minutes, 36 seconds.

Ayla Lehman followed three seconds later in second, while Scarlett Carpenter placed fourth and Drew Gustafson fifth.

All four earned first-team all-conference honors.

Zolah Williams in eighth, Kadence Vanderau in ninth and Lenny Watts in 10th earned second-team recognition.

Those four received first-team honors; Jackson Vasquez in eighth, Korban Gomer ninth and Mason Woods 13th earned second-team honors.

Junior varsity completes the sweep

Kearney’s JV girls took the first seven places, producing a perfect 15-point team score.

Carley Lusby won, followed in order by MacKenzie Deitchler, Annabelle Krehbiel, Sami Phelps, Maci Bates, Darcy Taylor and Anna Hermon.

The JV boys finished with 16 points, led by Cooper Wernimont in first, Reid Perkins second, Blake Immesberger third and Jaxson Bowers fourth.

Lucas Fredlund added a sixth-place finish.

The results recognize conference championships across the program, with both individual victories and closely grouped teammates contributing to the four team wins.
